DataHaven.NET - a peer-to-peer online backup utility.
DataHaven.NET Software - software provided by DataHaven.NET LTD
Data - any information that can be stored as file on your hard disk
Backup copy - an exact copy of certain data created in a moment of time
Backup folder - it's a backup copy of all files stored in this folder on your hard disk, including (by default) all subfolders
Distributed data storage - a method of data storage where data is encrypted, archived and stored on different computers, broken into blocks
Local Data - some data which is kept on local machine
Remote Data - a data stored on remote machine
Block - the file on your hard disk that is contains only a fraction of the original data
Packet - data block ready to transfer from one computer to another via the Internet
Backup - a backup folder, divided into blocks held by different users
Backup Process - a process of creating a new backup from existing data
Restore - the process of recovery from an existing backup
Redundancy in backup - it is a duplicating the data in order to be able to restore the losted blocks
Schedule - a set of rules to define a moment in time
Automatic Backup - a backup process started at given time using a schedule
User - a computer connected to the Internet where you installed DataHaven.NET Software or the person having access to this computer
Supplier - user agrees to store data from other users on his hard drive
Customer - user wants to store his data on the computers of other users
Offline User - a situation when one user is not reachable or not responding to another user
Online User - a situation when one user is able to exchange packets with another user
Data Availability - the ratio between the number of blocks currently available on the online suppliers machines and the total number of blocks of data
Donated folder - a folder on your hard drive where Customer's data is stored
Donated space - the maximum amount that may be Donated folder
Used Donated space - the current size of Donated folder
Free Donated space - the difference between Donated space and Used Donated space
Backup size - total size of all blocks belonging to this Backup
Used space - the total size of all the already created Backup's by this user
Needed space - the upper limit of Used space for the user
Free space - the difference between Needed space and Used space
Command - a packet of data containing only a short passphrase, message or other data and used for user interaction
Message - text message addressed to a specific user
Module - a separate part of the code included with DataHaven.NET Software
Transport - module performs transmission and reception of packets on a specific protocol
Protocol - a rule describing a method of transmitting information between computers
Contact - a string of the form [protocol ]://[ address], unique for each user
Encryption - the conversion of data to protect it

Identity - a public file containing the user's public key, digital signature, contacts and other information
Identity Server or ID Server - a computer which logs and stores files Identity
Identity URL or IDURL - address of the Identity file in the Internet
Central server - the user responsible for the registration and maintenance of all other users of the system
Registration - the process of creating a new Identity file on the ID server and the new account on the Central server
Account - a set of data on the Central server relevant to a particular user
Maintenance - a set of functions provided by the Central server main one being the selection of Suppliers for users
Money or virtual money credits - currency for the purchase of hard disk space from suppliers
Money server - the user performs input of virtual money credits into your account, it allow to exchange real money for virtual credits
Money transfer - the movement of the virtual money credits from one user account to another.
Receipt - a message containing a report on the movement of virtual money credits
Recovery - the recovery process a user's IDURL and private key
Data Rebuilding - process of fixing the missing data blocks on remote machines
Monitor Data - process of periodically checking and rebuild the remote data to maintain it integrity and availability
Secure remote backup - process of storing data on remote machines, maintaining the integrity and availability, and access to data by the private key only
